Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire will again be the venue for the 2020 Quest Retreat.
The retreat will commence with supper at 6.00pm on Friday 15th May and end following lunch on Sunday 17th May (Yes, it does coincide with the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest final on Saturday 16th; but this year give it nul point). The 2020 theme, “Do whatever he tells you”, is a reference to Christ’s first miracle at the wedding feast at Cana. When the supply of wine ran out, Mary intervened and instructed the servants with these words. Mary as Mother, Disciple and Servant of her Son is one of the central persons in the great project of the Kingdom of God. From her life we can learn to entrust ourselves without reserve to God and to our vocation to a radical following of Jesus.
The Cistercian monastic community does not charge visitors to stay in the Guesthouse, but is grateful for offerings made to help defray the running costs. The recommended minimum donation of £60 per person – arbitrarily set by the Retreat Coordinator for full board accommodation – is extremely modest by today’s standards. We therefore ask those attending the retreat to pay more if they can afford it. We do not wish to exclude people from attending the retreat on grounds of cost, therefore a lesser amount or nothing at all, is acceptable, depending on each person’s circumstances.
