The Social Welfare Commission for the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales as far back as 1979 noted that a LGBT+ Catholics we:
have a right to enlightened and effective pastoral care with pastoral ministers who are properly trained to meet [our] pastoral needs
and
have the same need for the Sacraments as the heterosexual. [We] also have the same right to receive the Sacraments.
More recently we have seen a number of Diocesan pastoral initiatives for LGBT+ Catholics and we warmly welcome and endorse these.
We believe these are in line with these statements from the Bishops’ Conference, as well as Church teaching on how LGBT+ people of faith are to be respected and supported.
Many of our members have welcomed the opportunity to attend Diocesan Masses and, when possible, have worked alongside others in Dioceses developing these initiatives.
We note that inclusion in the listings on this page does not mean that any of the Dioceses endorse the work of Quest. Inclusion on this page is about providing information to LGBT+ Catholics to support them on their spiritual journey. The page is a pointer for our siblings, friends and allies who want to support or benefit from these provisions.
More information about our working relationships with members of the church hierarchy can be found elsewhere on the website.
NB: During the pandemic the schedules of these provisions are likely to be altered so arrangements should be checked on the listed website.
If any of the information on the page is incorrect or needs updating please let us know by emailing webmaster@questlgbit.uk.
